Easy to install
Fiat 500 key covers are an easy way to freshen your car keys. They are available in a variety of styles and colors, so you'll be able to find the perfect one to match your personal style. They can be installed by yourself within ten minutes. You'll need a screwdriver and some patience. The first step is taking off the cover. The original cover must be removed before the replacement is able to be installed.
After removing the cover after removing the old cover, you can make use of a flathead tool to remove the four main attachment clips from the driver side of fob assembly. These are marked with red on the image below. Also, note the tabs for locating slots that are highlighted in yellow. They need to be disconnected also.
After removing the battery, replace it with a brand new # CR2032 3 volt coin cell battery. The "+" side of the battery should be facing the opening on the fob and the "side that is "-" side should face the rubber buttons.
Re-attach the passenger side mirror cover by aligning the tabs that locate it. Once you've done that then put the fob on the driver's side back into your car and test it. Press the button on the front of the key. If everything is working properly your car should start to turn on the parking lights and the doors will lock automatically.

When you insert the key into your Fiat key fob, it press an ignition switch, which functions as a "key-in-ignition" reminder. The BCM will then read the transponder that is on the key fob, to verify that it's a valid key.
